Arash Eshghi is Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department, Heriot-Watt University, and a member of the Interaction Lab. With over 9 years of postdoctoral research experience, Arash’s research is at the interface of Computer Science, Cognitive Science & Computational Linguistics, with a focus on modelling the various intricate processes involved in human conversation, and using such models to build better, more naturally interactive conversational AI & robots. For this, he has combined linguistic models of dialogue with machine learning for automatically bootstrapping conversational AI. He has also done substantial work on integrating vision & language for human-machine collaboration.
