Abstract
The world of High Performance Computing (HPC) is changing at a incredible speed to try to reach exascale levels. Different types of hardware (such as GPUs, FPGAs), are trying to solve the problems that reaching exascale entails, such as power usage and performance. Alan Stokes will introduce the SpiNNaker platform and describe how it is used for neural network simulation within the Human Brain Project (HBP) and support real time robotics. He will then look at how SpiNNaker can be utilised to execute general purpose computations, and therefore HPC problem. The floor will then be open for discussions on possible avenues of collaboration.
